How to convert PDF pages to JPG, step by step
Turning a PDF page into a JPG gives you an image of that page: something you can drop into a chat, a slide or a web form that only accepts images. PDF to JPG does this in your browser. Here is what happens from opening the file to saving the images.
Open your PDF
Drop the file on the page or use Add PDF. The PDF is read on your device; it is not uploaded to a server for the conversion. PDF to JPG works on one PDF at a time — if you drop several, the first one is opened.
A PDF that is password-protected or restricted cannot be opened here, and no password is asked for.
Choose the pages
When the document opens, every page is selected. You then take away what you don’t need:
- Tap or click a page to remove it from the selection; tap it again to add it back.
- Select all, Clear and Invert change the whole selection at once; Odd pages and Even pages are under More.
- Or type the pages into the range field, for example
3, 18, 42-46.7-means “page 7 to the end”. The range is applied when you press Enter or Apply.
Whatever order you pick them in, the images come out in the order the pages have in the document.
Pick a resolution
The settings panel offers three resolutions:
| Option | dpi | An A4 page becomes |
|---|---|---|
| Compact | 96 | 793 × 1123 px |
| Standard (default) | 150 | 1240 × 1754 px |
| High | 300 | 2479 × 3508 px |
Each option shows the pixel size for the first selected page, so you can see the result before you save. Which resolution to choose explains the difference.
Save
- One page downloads as a single
.jpg, named after your file and the page number — for examplereport-page-3.jpg. In longer documents the number is padded with zeros so the files sort correctly. - Several pages arrive together in one ZIP (
report-jpg.zip), in document order.
While the pages are being drawn, the save button shows a counter such as “3 / 16”. Cancel stops the job, and nothing is downloaded after a cancel. If something fails, Try again runs the job again.
JPG or JPEG?
They are the same image format. “JPEG” is the name of the standard; .jpg is the file extension most systems use. PDF to JPG saves .jpg files.
What to keep in mind
- Each selected page is rendered as an image at the resolution you choose. Text in it can no longer be selected or searched, and links no longer work. What changes when a PDF becomes a JPG covers this in detail.
- The tool draws whole pages; it does not pull out the photos embedded inside a PDF.
- Very large pages are scaled down to stay within 8192 pixels on the longest side and 24 megapixels per page, with their proportions kept. Before you save, a note under the page selection tells you when a selected page will be scaled down.
- The tool sets no fixed page-count limit. Practical capacity depends on the document, the resolution and the memory available on your device.
